Short Film Casting Call

Listed on Thursday 01 August 2019 | No Advertiser Specified | Tauranga, Bay of Plenty

Applications closes on Saturday 24 August 2019

Two actors are needed for a NZ Film Commission-funded short film – FRANKIE JEAN AND THE MORNING STAR.

This will be filmed in the Bay of Plenty over a few days in late August/early September.

These are PAID roles, and all shot costs for Actor and Chaperone including accommodation, food, and transport-associated costs will be discussed with Production pre-Shoot.

The following characters are required:

FRANKIE JEAN 8-10years. Maori/Pacific Island.
Frankie Jean is a cheeky young girl obsessed with rugby. She believes in the magic of the All Blacks and thinks everybody around her does too. She will stand up for what she thinks is right and isn’t afraid to speak her mind. She is brave, kind and always eager to make a new friend.

For the audition, you just need to say your name, age and height, then tell who your biggest hero is and why – this can be anyone – sports star, movie star, family member.
Also, email rosalie@topshelfdesign.com asking to be sent part of a small script, and if you can say a few lines of it from memory that would be great. You don’t have to learn it all, just a few lines would be wonderful.

JOSEPH 14-19years. Any ethnicity.
A talented dancer, Joseph feels trapped in the small town he grew up in. He doesn’t fit in to the dominant rugby culture and in fact, hates the game. He has dreams of becoming a dancer but has lost hope this will ever happen. He has a difficult relationship with his father and is much more sensitive and vulnerable than his tough exterior would suggest.

For the audition, email rosalie@topshelfdesign.com for part of a script, and if you can say from memory as much as you can that would be really great. Also please bring a piece of music you like to show a brief example of your dancing ability and style.
